2022.4.4Description
Breeches part of a boy's Swedish folk costume representing Leksand in the province of Dalarna. The pants (2022.4.4.A) are yellow with gold painted buttons and red tassles at the ankle. Only the right leg has the tassles left. At the back is a metal clasp to adjust the waist size of the pants. There are holes for pockets, but no pocket lining, it just goes to the inside of the pants. The waist and bottom of the pants are lined with linen.
The suspenders (2022.4.4.B) are beige and brown with a traingle pattern. They have metal clips at each end to attach to the pants.Context
Inger and Harold Gustafson purchased the costume for their son, Nils, in the 1940s-1950s. It was then given to the donor's mother.
Around 1985, the costume was given to the donor's son.Acquisition
