Edvin Svensson (later: Edwin Swanson) was born on Dec. 25, 1894 in Stora Tuna, Dalarna. He worked as a "banarbetare" (railroad worker) in Sweden. He was issued a visa to travel to the United States by the American Consulate General on Feb. 15, 1923 and had 12 months to enter the country. His passport was issued in Falun, Dalarna on Feb. 10, 1923 and expired on Feb. 11, 1924. It granted him the ability to travel back and forth to the United States. He immigrated to Chicago, Illinois and became a United States citizen on May 28, 1930.Acquisition
