"The enclosed packet contains pure ash from the Mt. St. Helen’s eruption of May 25, 1980. It was gathered at Longview, Washington, where capricious East winds blanketed the area in a fall-out not seen before in this area in the memory of modern man. The glaze on the porcelain items is made from the pure ash, fired at high temperatures. The rich colors are derived from the iron in the ash, and the various shades are produced by varying amounts and temperatures. This is a natural glaze containing the same ingredients as that imported from Italy and produced from Volcanic eruptions in that area. Volcanic ash is extremely dense and surprisingly heavy. If this were a quart container, it would weigh five pounds!” -- A.F.B. MFG. & SALES CORP.
