Notes
Note tucked inside reads:
"Regarding your box. I may have said a 'Jane Austen' style box, meaning the type she would have used during the 1830's 40's. As you know she was the author of 'Pride and Prejudice' 'Emma' 'Sense and Sensibility' amongst many great classics and portrayals of her work you will see that style of box. It appears in regency paintings. If you look in books of furnished period rooms you will often see one on a side table. In any antiques books relating to the late Regency period you should fins illustrations of boxes similar to yours ? I can even think of some American Shaker boxes in the same way. All my books are packed away at the moment as I have just moved house so I can't quote you a page."
