Horizontal ridged herringboneEntry/Object ID
2020.1.248Description
From the book: "This fascinating knitting technique gives a pattern of horizontal embossed ridges, between which the stitches lie slanted back and forth in herringbone fashion. In practice it will be found that when a stitch is to be slipped back to the left-hand needle, it is convenient simply to insert the point of the left-hand needle into the front of this stitch from the left, then all that remains is to pick up the next stitch in its back loop with the right-hand needle, so the two stitches can be knitted together."Collection

Hilary was taught to knit by her mother at a very young age. She has recently taken it up again and loves how this craft directly connects her to her great-grandfather, grandma, mum, sister, daughter, and granddaughter -- many of whom are participating in this project, as well. She is very happy to be connected to other knitters across the globe through this project. Her knitting is becoming part of the overall pattern.Lexicon
