Description

Handspun and handwoven length of organic cotton khadi cloth. Center is woven in 1/1 plain weave with white warp threads and dark blue weft threads. Each end has a block woven in 1/1 plain weave with white warp threads and dark blue and red weft threads, in a horizontal striped pattern.

Use

Khadi is an absorbent fabric for the summer or dense warmth in winter. Its low twist yarn quality makes the fabric supple and softer after each wash.

Context

Today, khadi is undergoing a revival as it is still relevant in providing a livelihood for those in the high skill/low tech sector. This combined with the organic cultivation, especially of indigenous cottons, is increasingly being recognized by the fashion industry to support a unique range of versatile fabrics which are ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable.
