From the book: "In this pretty and easy-to-work pattern, the rows of purl stitches do deserve their ancient name of "pearls". They resemble strings of seed pearls applied in embroidery on an old-fashioned lace. The pattern is in fact an old-fashioned one, and was used by Victorian knitters for bureau scarves, tray cloths, antimacassars and the like. But it has much charm, and could be elegantly adapted to today's dresses, blouses, baby clothes, or evening stoles."Collection
