From the book: "In this pattern all stitches are twisted on both right-side and wrong-side rows, and the result is a wonderful and unusual texture that resembles a diagonal basketweave. The fabric is dense and firm, excellent for such articles as cushion covers, potholders, and mats, as well as garments. Unless a very small, tight "weave" is desired, the pattern should be worked with large needles."Collection

Lori's grandmother, Grace, taught Lori how to sew and knit when she was a child. When she was 13, Grace's family immigrated to America from Southern Italy, where she had been taught the important skills of sewing, knitting, and crochet -- skills that she maintained throughout her life and passed down to Lori. Lori lives in Maine and is immersed in nature and surrounded by creative individuals. She is always invigorated when she takes on a new sewing or knitting technique. When she picks up her knitting needles or sits at her sewing machine, she thinks of Grace and feels her presence in each project.Lexicon
