From the book: "The directions for this pattern seem complicated, but it is actually simple to work. The knitter can easily grasp the pattern principle in the first 16 rows and thereafter work by looking only at the fabric. A variation can be made by repeating Rows 1-8 only. This produces a kind of Basket Stitch with wide blocks, the small triple flare being reproduced in each block, one above the other. The last eight rows out of the sixteen only serve to alternate the patterns."Collection

Jill Trask originally signed up for this swatch, but after much struggle she gave up and took it to her local knitting group. After struggling, Cheri was finally able to knit it! Cheri and Jill both live on a small island off the coast of Maine, called Swan's Island. Every Wednesday night Cheri hosts a get-together for the island's knitters -- a highlight of the week during their dark, cold winters. In addition to being an accomplished knitter, Cheri is also a beautiful quilter.Lexicon
