Description

Gold matelasse evening dress with red, green and brown floral pattern. Sleeveless, with a boat neckline in front and a plunging "V" back. White dress shields inside dress at underarms. Darts in bodice. "Glider" zipper closure at center back of bodice. Bodice lined in yellow rayon. Natural waist. At the back of the waistline is a rectangular self-fabric bow. One floor-length trapezoidal piece of fabric is attached to rear waist at either side of the bow. The skirt has two pleated gathers at the front and back waistline. Skirt is floor-length and A-line.

Use

Worn by the donor to her graduation from a nursing program at the Vancouver General Hospital in 1964. This dress was bought at the Oakridge Mall for $250, costing more than a month's wages at the time.
