Taupe silk damask haori. About hip-length. Damask pattern appears to depict twisted tree branches in a similar taupe colour. No collar. The sleeves are broad and rectangular, with a rounded end and broad wrist openings that are about 3/4 as broad as the sleeves themselves. Haori has a miyatsukuchi (i.e. the lower half of the armholes that are not covered by the sleeves) suggesting it is made to be worn by a woman. This haori is single-breasted. The front panels overlap, left over right, and fasten in place with three snap fasteners. Three decorative self-covered buttons on edge of left front panel. Rectangular cream silk panel at inside shoulders. Inside the haori are two short cords (haori himo) made of same cream silk as panel, one each at the left and the right side seam. Some small yellow stains on outside front.Acquisition
