Description

Black calf-length silk coat. Damask-woven, showing floral motifs. Wide, flat collar with notched lapel. The collar, lapel, and cuffs have needleworked (?) ornamentation. Two black tassels at waist on back of coat. Coat fastens with three frog closures.

Use

Belonged to the donor's great grandmother. Her family had moved from Scotland directly to Vancouver circa 1926 (due to the U.K. General Strike), taking this dress with them.
