Part A) Black wool suit jacket. Double breasted with flat collar and peak label. Fitted sleeves with decorative geometric bands of gold-coloured metal at wrists. Broad welt pocket on left breast and two double welt pockets on left and right front. Interior pocket on right breast (contains program for William Evans' funeral, dated October 21, 1999). Double-vented at rear hem. Body lined with black satin and sleeves with (discoloured) white satin. Closes with eight gold metallic buttons.
Part B) Black wool trousers. Waistband notched in center rear. Five black buttons around outside of waistband. Two seam pockets on left and right side. Darts in waist. Welt pocket with button closure on right rear. Closes with a six-button fly and a hook-and-bar closure in center front.Use
Uniform was custom tailored for the donor during World War II by McLaren of Glasgow, Scotland. At the time, the donor was on convoy duty in the North Atlantic as a Captain in the Royal Canadian Navy.Acquisition
