Description

White linen shift. Sleeveless with boatneck neckline. Single button closure on top of left strap. Scalloped and embroidered edges on neckline and armholes. Floral eyelet embroidery on center front underneath neckline. Stylized "MD" embroidery on right bust. Knee-length. Discolouration all over; dark stains on right rear; fabric tape adhered to fabric at rear neckline.

Use

Belonged to the donor's great-grandmother, Margaret McDowal of Scotland. This chemise was likely part of a wedding trousseau.
