Description

Taupe, buff wool greatcoat. Moss green, flat and folded velvet collar and a straight neckline. Wrist-length sleeves with wrist slit at outside of sleeve and double satin covered button closure. Greatcoat is double-breasted with taupe satin-covered buttons. Natural waistline. Flap pocked on both left and right front at hip. Skirt of coat is floor-length, with a vent in center rear from waist to hem. Shoulders, sleeves, and skirt are lined with satin while waist is lined with brown and red wool. Right lowest button is coming loose, and tears and fraying visible on lining.

Use

Original owner was a footman for Prince Arthur (1850-1942), the Duke of Connaught and third son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
