Grey woolen sweater vest stitched with leather postcards for warmth. V-neck and low arm holes edged with bands of garter stitch. Front and back of vest are covered with rectangular, soft brown leather postcards etched with affectionate imagery (a man and woman sharing a kiss), humorous sayings ("May Dame Fortune / ever smile on you! / but never her daughter / Miss Fortune!), rural scenes (a figure skating down a frozen river towards a cottage sitting in a snow-covered landscape), and visual puns (a man fishing over a bridge with the text "I AM JUST / DROPPING / YOU A LINE"). Some postcards appear to have been written on in ink, but the text has faded to be largely illegible. Some cards show faded remains of red, blue and green colour. Bottom edge of vest has ribbed border. Stitching around bottom corner of one postcard on the back of the vest has come loose, revealing a name and address line ("Miss Ella W. J. Beck / St. Lawrence / Goderich, Ontario"), indicating that at least one of these leather cards were sent through the mail.Acquisition
