Woman's cotton kimono with blue and white floral print. The collar runs around neckline and down center front of kimono to approximately hip-height. The rectangular sleeves dangle below the armhole and have broad wrist openings that are half the width of the sleeve. The miyatsukuchi (the lower half of the armholes that are not covered by the sleeves) mark this kimono as being made to be worn by a woman. Kimono has a shaped panel of white lining inside the shoulders as well as a square panel of lining halfway down the back panels of the garment at about hip-height.Use
Given to the donor's mother by the wife of the first Australian Anglican missionary in Japan. The original owner had received this garment as a gift while on a mission in 1931-1932.Acquisition
