Description

Burgundy obi with a checkered weave pattern embellished with silver metallic threads. Selvedge on both long edges and no hems on short edges. Obi appears reversible. Yellowed cardboard tag attached along top long edge, with Japanese characters and a ¥ 980 price stamped on in ink.

Use

Given to the donor's mother by the wife of the first Australian Anglican missionary in Japan. The original owner received this garment as a gift while on a mission in 1931-1932.
