Scissors. -- Surgical scissors used in removing sutures and in similar operations are made with the lower blade 2, Fig. 1, of filiform rounded section, except at its cutting-edge 6, Fig. 3, and of hooklike form and needle pointed at 5. The stout upper blade 3 has a convex cutting-edge 4 to correspond with the cutting-edge of the hook-like blade 2. The loop of the suture is caught up by the hook-like blade and held under the blade 3 until it is severed.Cataloged By
