Shears. -- The shanks A are made hollow, either of malleable cast iron or by bending. The blades are secured to them by pins. The joint ends of the shanks are similar, and of the form shown, and when secured together by the bold B the joint possesses four thicknesses of metal. The shanks at the joint are further shaped so that the blades cannot open beyond a certain distance. A spring C keeps the blades apart in their normal position.Cataloged By
