Scissors and shears. -- Relates to means for obtaining a pressure at the cutting-edge approximately equal at all points and greater than that applied at the handles. The blade a carries a lever arm f bearing pins d, e. A lever g, of which the end i bears against the blade b, the opposite end being attached to the pin e, passes under an adjustable roller h carried by the blade b. The pin d and the pivot pin c, carried by the blade a, work in slots l, k in the blade b, thus giving a longitudinal motion to the blade. On the handles being pressed together, the arm f pulls the lever g in the direction j, bringing the bent-up portion o under the roller h, and shortening the arm I with the object of increasing the pressure on the cutting-edge s, as the cutting-pint moves away from the axis c.Cataloged By
