Scissors. -- The blades A1, A2 and the handles B1, B2 are independently pivoted on the same pin C, but each blade and corresponding handle are connected, when in use, by a flat spring D2, which would be free to turn on the pivot, but it is provided with a pip d2 to engage a hole in the blade, and is formed with a notch to engage a lug b3 on the handle. Small lugs a4 on the roots of the blades limit the cut. When the scissors is to be folded up the handles are turned in the directions of the arrows till they overlap. In this operation the blades are turned with the handles till a lug a1 on the root of each stops the other, after which the springs D2 leave the blades and the handles shut them up by means of the hooks b4.Cataloged By
