Scissors. -- Long blades for ordinary use are adapted to cut buttonholes by forming them with recesses B at the base and an adjustable stop, either as a nut J on a screw K fixed in one of the recesses, or as a pawl on one leg to engage teeth on the other. Curved telescoping blades F, G at the top of the recesses cut out the eye of the buttonhole. The screw stop may be mounted in a slide to be shifted along the recess for varying the distance of the cut from the edge of the cloth.Cataloged By
