Scissors. -- A pair of scissors has a movable pivot d, Fig. 2, about which the blades are centred by longitudinal slots c; the pivot is connected to the handles by a system of crossed levers e. As the scissors are closed, the pivot moves towards the cutting-point, and the whole cutting operation can be effected by a practically constant pressure on the handles. The pivot has a flange m and a washer n which bear on the faces of the blades, and it may be attached to the lever system by two screws h, Fig. 3, which pass through the levers into the pivot, or by providing the pivot with two integral bolts which project through the levers and are secured by washers and pins.Cataloged By
