Description

15,111. Newton, A. G. Dec. 9. Shears. -- Relates to a joint specially for double bow shears to allow of the blades being readily turned back for sharpening and also to hold them on the cut. The bows are pivoted near one side by a rivet A while a second rivet B is formed on one and passes into an open slot C in the other. In the normal cutting position this joint presses the blades together, but when it is desired to sharpen the blades they are sprung apart so as to cross; the stud B can then be withdrawn from the slot by turning about the pivot A.
