Shears, sheep. The blades A are punched out either from single or double bevelled steel; their tangs fit into dovetailed recesses in shanks, made preferably of malleable iron and secured to the projections B by rivets C. The bow is cut from sheet steel and hollowed at the end D to fit the shanks of the blades, and is riveted or screwed to the shanks. When it is desired to adjust the power of the spring to the requirements of the user, slots are cut in the ends of the bow in which run bolts attached to the shanks and secured by butterfly nuts. The projections B act as stops to prevent the blades from overlapping too much.Cataloged By
