Description

17,928. Krank, A. J. Sept 25. [Date claimed under SEC. 103 of PATENTS &c. ACT, 1883, April 6th.] Scissors and shears. -- In lieu of a pivot an arc a attached to one blade A works in a curved slot b in the other blade B, the two being held together by a stud C with or without a spring washer c under its head. The small end of the stud is notched on both sides and is engaged by a slotted spring D whose forward end rests on a slope a4 of the subjacent blade and whose rear end is bent to form a dog d3 which bears against notches on the blade. As the blades wear, the boss may be taken up by moving the dog to another notch on the blade, and when the last notch is reached the dog is put back to the first again, but the spring is engaged with the next pair of notches on the stud.
