Scissors and shears have the blades lubricated at, and near to, their pivotal points by a compressible absorbent pad E, saturated with lubricant and confined in a recess D in one of the blades B. An air passage d, of less diameter than the recess D, communicates with the recess, which is to the rear of the pivot C, and it is stated that the restricted dimension of the air passage in conjunction with the "set: of the blades results in a pumping action on the lubricant when the blades are vibrated. The pad E is composed of fabric or fibre, preferably felt; being compressible, it exerts a slight pressure on the face of the blade A and cushions the parts.Cataloged By
