3693. Whittaker, J. J. Feb. 20. Shears. -- The halves are pivoted together by means of a pair of pins engaging a pair of slots at an angle. In the illustration given of a particular form of this pivot, one of the halves has a longitudinal slot which is engaged by a pin on the other half, and this latter carries an oblique slotted bracket which is engaged by a pin on the first half. In other arrangements the slots are made in the body of the parts, and both may be in one part, while the other part carries both pins; also the slots may be curved instead of straight.Cataloged By
