Shears, sheep. In order to adjust the power of the springs of double bow shears, they are so made that the inturned portions C, D are quite straight when free and are pierced by coincident slots F, so that the point of divergence when resisting pressure can be varied by a screw button E. The springs may also become thinner from D to near the rivets C in order to give greater variability of strength. Instead of the button E a H-piece may be passed vertically through the slots and turned across them.Cataloged By
