8311. Webb, H. C. May 29. Scissors for trimming argand lamp wick. The lower blade a has a guide-plug e with a circular cutting-edge b, and the upper blade h is shaped like a sickle or reaping-hook. There is a rabbet on the blade a to allow the wick to rise above the cutting-edge. The plug e is placed in the centre of the wick-tube, and has a recess f which fits over the spindle carrying the flame spreader. The cuttings or trimmings are retained between the cutter I and a projection j on the cutter b.Cataloged By
