Description

David Hinchsliffe was listed as a fine scissor maker at Nursery Walk in Robinson's (1797). His mark consisted of three elements stacked horizontally, from top to bottom as follows: the outline of a heart; a cross; the letters "IH". David Hinchcliff (note variation in surname) was listed as a scissor maker at Nursery in Wardle & Bentham (1814-1815). Broomhead, Hinchsliffe & Co. were listed as fine scissor manufacturers in Gales & Martin (1787) and used a similar mark of a heart above a star above "IH". They were listed at Brinsworth's Orchard, which is now known as Orchard Street and is in the current city centre.
