End-pivot scissors have been in use across a wide geographical area, from the Balkans through to Asia. They are still used in some parts of Asia today. Formed from two knives joined by a pivot, they are used with two hands. They evolved from early methods of obtaining wool from sheep, and have probably been in use since the Iron Age.
