Description

George Kent was listed as a fine scissor manufacturer in Barker Pool in Gales & Martin (1787). His mark was a crown above the word "SHIRE". In Robinson's (1797) a George Kent is listed at 52 Burgess Street. His mark consisted of the word "SPIRE". A George Kent is also listed as a scissorsmith in Holden's (1811), this time at Coal Pit Lane (a street now known as Cambridge Street, which is in the current city centre, and in the same vicinity as both Barker's Pool and Burgess Street).
