John Dearden appears in Gales & Martin (1787) as a fine scissor manufacturer at Smithfield. His mark consists of the word "KING" above the word "HEROD". He also appears in Robinson's (1797) with the same mark at 19 Copper Street. Subsequent trade directories list scissor makers called John Dearden as follows: Brownell, 1817 - Copper Street Gell, 1825 - 11 & 12 Copper Street (scissor and cut nail manufacturer) Pigot's, 1828-1829 - 12 Copper Street
