Description

John Oaks was a fine scissor maker listed at 37 Pond Street in Robinson's (1797). His mark consists of three elements, stacked horizontally from top to bottom: a curve; a cross or plus sign; the number "3". He may have been a descendant of Widow Oaks, who is listed as a fine scissor manufacturer at Pond Lane in Gales & Martin (1787), and whose mark is similar but with a dot in place of the cross or plus sign.
