Description

John Stortz & Son are manufacturers of various tools, including Tinners' Snips. Their Catalogue of Plumbers', Tinsmiths', Roofers' and Mechanics' Tools (early 1900s, no exact date) illustrates a range of Tinners' Snips as follows: Tinners' Snips or Hand Shears, Laid with heavy Steel; Full surface of Steel Blade; Bows or Rings on Handle the same on both sides, so that the Shear can be picked up and used with equal advantage. no matter how the same be grasped - sizes 2 1/2" to 5" (that being the length of jaw from centre of bolt) Combination Slips, These Snips will cut curves, scrolls and irregular shapes, besides being adapted to the same class of work as the ordinary straight Snips. The jaws are not bent, like those of Circular Snips. They are shaped in a peculiar manner to allow the material to pass freely, when cutting curves, or changing the directions of the cut. The Combination Snips are drop-forged of best quality Cast Steel, properly hardened - sizes 3", 3 1/2", and 4" cut Circular Snips - length of jaws 2 1/2" to 4 1/2"
