Description

Description from Goss (2012): "6 1/2" Fohts (?). Boston, MA. A brass adjustable guide turned by a screw is at the front end of this scissor-like implement. It has a razor like blade and a small sliding guide. It has bows and a long shank." However, an eBay auction (Kitsch Cache, 24th January 2025) reveals a very similar item for sale. There is a marking which could potentially have been misread as "FOHTS" if the item was rusted or damaged, which has the Greek letters Kappa Omicron Pi Tau Omega, which translates as 'CUT'. The maker's mark is located on the other side and reads 'D.G. CHASE. BOSTON.' which would tally with Goss' description of the item being from Boston.
