Shears for opening metal tins containing preserved food &c. Two levers jointed together are shaped at one end like the levers of lever corkscrews, the other end of one being formed into a knife, while that of the other is slotted to receive the knife. The shaped ends are closed by means of the hand, and re-opened by a spring. The lower side of the slotted lever is curved to give a bearing on the surface cut. A hole is made in the can by the point of the cutter, and the can then opened as by an ordinary pair of scissors. The levers are closed by a loop slipped over them when not in use. A lump formed on the lower lever prevents the levers from approaching too closely to each other.Cataloged By
