Scissors. -- The two pieces for forming the scissors are first cut of suitable shape; "each" piece is then forged or rather drawn out while "hot to lengthen the part to form the blade" to avoid waste of metal. The forging or stamping is done by a blow or blows in a hand press, stamper, or pile hammer between two dies, the sunk portion of each of which represent the half relief of the blade and handle.Cataloged By
