Scissors. -- Fig. 6 shows a pair of scissors in which the blades a, an are secured by central axes b, b and screw c. The axes are made in two parts cut horizontally, their outer surfaces being flanged at d, d to fit into channels cut round the bearing-surfaces of the opening through each blade. The two division of the axis fit each other, and are prevented from shifting by means of a square head cut in one section, as shown at f, Fig. 7, and a cavity g, Fig. 8, in the other. The tightening-screw is let into a countersunk cavity, so that the pivot is flush with the surface of the blades.Cataloged By
