Shears. -- The blades of shears for clipping sheep, grass hedges, &c. are connected by a hinge joint or pivot g, and are pressed apart by a volute spring f. A screw s and nut m limit the outward motion of the blades, and keep them closed if desired. A sheet-metal guard n prevents accidental contact of the screw s with external objects.
