Scissors. -- For cutting buttonholes, the short blades a, b are terminated at the pivot end by a hole c and piercer e to cut the eye at the end of the slit, and one of the handles may be provided with a screw j to adjust the length of the slit to various graduations on one of the blades. To suit heavy work, the piercer is set on a lug f, and a slot g is made below the hole to allow the bits punched out to escape. In a modification, the cut is made only by the sharp edge of the hole.Cataloged By
