Sheep shears. -- In order to adjust the tension of the spring to suit the hand of the user and to enable the same shears to be used for cutting light, heavy, dirty wool, a movable fulcrum F is fitted between the sides of a U or other spring D, having parallel sides. The fulcrum F consists preferably of a coil of spring wire the ends of which are bent at G, to grasp one side of the spring D as shown. It may be moved backwards and forwards on the spring to vary the tension of the latter. By moving it on to the outwardly-curving part of the spring, it will cease to act as a fulcrum, and the tension of the shears will then be that due to the curved end E, and the bow spring B which unites the shank C. The ends of the spring D are riveted or otherwise secured to the shanks.Cataloged By
