Edging &c. shears. -- The machine is pushed by a handle G, the blades A, B being actuated by a roller C and cam D fixed at the ends of an axle passing through the blade A. The cam acting on a projection E raises the blade B to the position shown by the dotted lines. When released, a spiral spring F returns the blade B, and, pulling obliquely, closes it sharply against the blade A. The cut grass falls into a movable pan beneath the blade A. The shearing-plane of the blades A and B is inclined from the vertical. The invention is also applicable to shears with more than one pair of blades. One or more rollers and handles may be used, and the cam may be driven by gearing.
