457. Hallas, C. G., Flower, F. W., and Pearson, E. Feb. 5. Drawings to Specification.
Shears. -- Strips of metal, preferably of steel, are converted into a continuous series of shear blanks, by passing them through cast-iron chilled rolls. Recesses, which form the counterpart of one-half of each shear blank, are formed in each roller; or the recesses may be formed entirely in one roll, the other roll being plain. The invention is described in connection with shears having a spring bow and used for cutting the wool or hair of animals, but pivoted shears may, it is stated, be produced in the same way, and "trowel-shank shears" are mentioned.
