Scissors and shears. -- Each shank is made to form the half of a sheath into which the blades, separately made, slide. When the blades are in, the sheath cannot be opened; when the blades are wholly pushed out, the fulcrum of the blades coincides with that of the shanks and the scissors can be used. A spring keeps the blades pressed together and a pin provides a means of locking them. The sheath may be adapted to hold besides a needle or pin case, knife, pencil, toothpick, or other article.
