Shears. -- Specification No. 979, A.D. 1879, is referred to. The blade A, pivoted to a blade B, is forced down and laterally by pressure on the handle C of a chamfered cam piece C1 pivoted on the blade B in advance of the pin D and moving in contact with a coned anti-friction bowl G on the blade A. The blade A is opened by a spring E and the jerk causes the shears to feed forward. The tail extension A1 of the blade A is bifurcated and the prongs are bent downwards to receive anti friction bearing pieces. The cam surface and bowl G may be replaced by interfering toothed segments.Cataloged By
