Shears. -- In cutting fabrics to produce a pattern, such as in the case of appliqué lace, a shears, such as that shown in Figs. 1 and 2 is used, being an improvement on that described in Specification No. 10,126, A.D. 1901. In a tube or handle a the blades c, d are mounted, the pointed blade c being fixed by screws f, e and the movable blades d being pivoted on the screw f. The blade d has an extension having a crosshead g, in the end of which is a groove in which an eccentric pin j on the spindle edges, the blade being thus actuated by the rotation of the spindle. The spindle, which is suitably mounted in the handle, may be rotated through a flexible connection s or by gearing.Cataloged By
