Scissors and shears for cutting cloth and the like are made with a handle attached to the upper blade only, the lower blade resting on the table or board when in use, and a spring normally keeping the blades open to an extent determined by stops. Figs. 1 and 3 show one form in side and end view, in which the blades B, C are kept apart by a spiral spring E coiled in the boss D and the handle A is attached to the upper blade, a foot F being provided if required for the lower blade. The handle A1, in Fig. 7, is attached to the upper blade at its rear end only, and is slued towards the lower blade so as to keep the shears upright during the cutting stroke.Cataloged By
